The Grand Hotel Birmingham will open its doors, revealing its £45million restoration and refurbishment, to the public on Tues 18 May. Housed in one of Birmingham’s most iconic buildings overlooking the city’s prestigious Colmore Row, the luxury hotel is a Grade II listed building
Retaining the building’s French Renaissance exterior, Victorian and Arts & Crafts features and paying homage to its illustrious history, the restoration also includes a new penthouse suite with spectacular views across St Phillip’s Cathedral and the city beyond. Interior design by Robert Angell Design International reflects the passion and spirit of contemporary Birmingham, whilst paying homage to the building’s stunning original features and history.
Guests will be able to stay in one of the hotel’s 185 guest rooms and suites and to meet and drink in Madeleine, the hotel’s glamorous cocktail bar. Afternoon Tea will be served in Madeleine every Wednesday to Saturday, priced £29 including a glass of Champagne, from Wednesday 26th May.
Free guided tours will take place every Sunday between 30th May and 20th June for a maximum of five people per tour (plus guide) from a maximum of two households or bubbles. Taking place every half hour from 12.30pm until 4pm, the tours will include a chance to see the stunning Grand Ballroom. Tours are subject to availability and to any change to government guidelines, tickets for tours will be bookable via The Grand Hotel Birmingham’s website from 18 May.
When the hotel is fully open from 21st June, it will also include two bars and a brasserie-style restaurant; a gym; the Grand Ballroom; and nine additional meeting and event spaces that combine original Victorian features with intuitive AV and IT.

Between 18 May and early September, The Grand Hotel Birmingham will be open Tues–Sat: check in is from 3pm (Tues–Sat) and check out on Sun is by 12 noon. Madeleine will be open from 3pm on Tues and from 12 noon Wed–Sat, closing 11pm (Tues to Sat).
